Welcome to Kinser Elementary School (KSES),
“Where Every Child Succeeds, Having Fun While Learning.”
KSES is one of the newest DoDDS schools in Okinawa. It opened in April 1987 on Military Command Base Camp Kinser. The campus consists of 8 buildings, a softball field, soccer field, a basketball court, gym, and three playgrounds. With a population of only 500 students, we are the small friendly neighborhood school adjacent to the East China Sea. Many of our classrooms look out to the coral reef – with a clear view of the famous shipwreck - practically in our own backyard!
The beauty of our school campus is only surpassed by the commitment of our professional staff to provide the best educational program that DoDDS has to offer. Our students typically score above the national average on standardized tests. KSES is a K-6 school with a host of programs designed to meet every need. We have a special education pre-school program and a Sure Start classroom. Our specialist teachers provide art, music, physical education, and Japanese culture/language to all students. We have 3 reading teachers, a speech therapist, a psychologist, 2 English as second language teachers, and a Gifted Education Resource teacher.
In addition to a standards based curriculum, KSES offers students extra-curricular activities (after school clubs) and a host of special events and celebrations. Our Parent Teacher Organization ( PTO) and School Advisory Council (SAC) provide parents many opportunities to volunteer in the school.
